The Independent Insurance Center / Fire Mark started as a small family business in 1973. It has since grown into one of Northern Virginia's leading full-service insurance agencies.

The Grant family (Larry & Mary) started the company as the Reston insurance Agency, Ltd., representing only four companies. In 1976, the name was changed to Independent Insurance Center. Today, IIC represents over 40 of the insurance industry's best companies. We now have almost 20 employees, including the next generation of the Grant family.

Our growth has been achieved primarily through new production and a continued commitment to satisfying our customers. We have purchased two small agencies, including one of the first agencies in Loudoun County.

Independent Insurance Center / Fire Mark is a founding member of Associated Risk Managers (ARM) of Virginia and a member of ARM International, a network of some of the larger independent insurance agencies in the world. We are also a founding member of Fire Mark Insurance Associates, a regional group of leading independent agents with a total premium volume exceeding $25,000,000. Independent Insurance Center / Fire Mark is also a member of Keystone Insuance Group, Independent Insurance Agents of America, Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia and the Professional Insurance Agents Association.
